Salford & Bury support from BOOBS

  • We are now running our own Peer support service both online and face to face in Salford and Bury at our BOOBS venues.
  • Webchat can be accessed through this website Tuesdays-Fridays 9.30 am to 12.30pm. To speak to a volunteer just click the pink button in the corner!. If you can’t get hold of us please leave your name, email address and phone number and we will get in touch as soon as we can.
  • You can now also book an appointment with a BOOBS peer Supporter for Salford or Bury through our self referral form and choose a face to face meeting, telephone or Zoom call. Zoe or Kerry will be in touch to arrange an appointment with a volunteer.
  • We update our social media and this website with our Breastfeeding cafes and other pop up events where we are offering support, see our events page for more info.
  • We also have a new Facebook group ‘Be open on Breastfeeding Support’  which you are able to post in and ask any question at any time, especially at times when we have no webchat available (Mondays, evenings and weekends!)
  • Our BOOBS Instagram can be messaged at any time – we have now merged our social media accounts to cover both areas.
  • If you gave birth in Bolton or Ingleside, you will have access to a lactation consultant based at the hospital. Ring the birth centre or the Bolton postnatal ward on 01204 390631.
  • If you are in Salford, you can access face-to-face support every Wednesday at our Visit from the Stork Stay & Play session 10.30-11.45 am at the Emmanuel Centre in Langworthy. Please message us if you can if you’d like a proper appointment with someone, if not then you can come to play and talk to the team informally.
  • Your health visitor should also be able to give initial feeding support
  • If you are still pregnant and want to find out more about Breastfeeding, join us for our 3-week antenatal course. They are FREE and suitable for anyone 30+ weeks pregnant.
  • If you live in Bury you are likely to be under the care of Northern Care Alliance.
  • You can loan a breast pump from the Bury Health Visiting service – 0161 762 3291
  • Bury Health Visiting service has a Facebook page with more information on. You can also visit the Northern Care alliance website to find out the numbers for the Health visiting teams in the borough.

Our friend Jackie at The Breastfeeding Companion is a Bury-based IBCLC and her website is full of videos, articles and information.

HomeStart Salford, Trafford & Wigan were recently commissioned under the Family Hubs funding from the government to provide breastfeeding support in Family Hubs across Salford. They have drop-ins at a different Family Hub every day of the week. Follow their Facebook page for more details as their service develops. They will be working alongside BOOBS to provide support across Salford.

Our parent charity Visit from the Stork helps parents deal with LOTS of different situations including helping those in need of baby essentials. No matter what the issue is, you are not alone. We run coffee morning on a Thursday if you just want a brew and chat with someone friendly.
