Be Open on Breastfeeding Salford (B.O.O.B.S) is an open community set up in 2014 through our Salford-based parent company and social enterprise Visit from the Stork CIC.
We’re on a mission to empower women across Salford and Greater Manchester to be open about their breastfeeding experiences and inspire others to breastfeed for longer. We believe every mum should have the chance to have a happy, safe and comfortable breastfeeding journey.
The project is led by Visit from the Stork Managing Director Kimberly Bond, Project Manager Rachel Parkinson, and some amazing dedicated volunteers.
This website was launched in 2017 with the help of National Lottery funding. We aim to update this website with practical help, advice and information about Breastfeeding, but also news about our campaigns and events across the city of Salford and inspirational stories and lots of positive awareness raising about the fantastic job you mummies do.
We’re currently focusing on our awareness campaign B.O.O.B.S Approved, and we are aiming to get 100 independent venues in the wonderful city of Salford signed up to our scheme, so mums can feel safe and confident in their Breastfeeding journey.
We also now have a volunteer-led peer support service, partnering with other amazing organisations such as The Sling Library, Salford Sling & Meet and Dance Like A Mother CIC.
If you want to know more about our own journey and our values, guiding principles and inspiration for the project, have a read of my post ‘A B.O.O.B.S History’
This page has been updated in October 2019 and we have got lots of plans to expand in the next 12 months to make sure we support as many mums in Salford as possible.
We are always on the look out for volunteers and mums wanting to get involved in our future plans, so please contact us via social media or firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested, or if there is any way we can support you.
