We empower women to be open about their breastfeeding experiences and inspire others to breastfeed for longer. We have been supporting families on their breastfeeding journeys since 2014 and we believe that every mum should have the chance to have a happy, safe and comfortable breastfeeding journey.
Give back to the community by joining our dedicated team of volunteers! We have various roles available.
Your donation can help us keep vital breastfeeding support free for parents and help more families access specialist support when needed.
Make a self referral to BOOBS if you need 1:1 breastfeeding support from one of our trained peer support volunteers, or specialist support from one of our partner organisations.

We are an independent project, part of the award-winning charity Visit from the Stork. We’ve been championing breastfeeding for 12 years through awareness campaigns, social events, workshops, 1:1 and group support. We want to Be Open On Breastfeeding – and we aim to inspire, empower and educate the next generation of parents across Greater Manchester.
We support mums through online and face-to-face peer support appointments with our trained volunteers who are all breastfeeding mums living in Salford or Bury.
We run monthly breastfeeding cafes which are social sessions, perfect for meeting other mums and reaching out for support if needed.
Our BOOBS Approved venues are local independent businesses, all creating a safe, friendly space for you to breastfeed in with no obligation to spend a penny.
We run antenatal sessions focused specifically on breastfeeding. Aimed at parents-to-be who are 28+ weeks pregnant, these sessions are free to access and run throughout the year.
We run regular pram and sling walks across Bury borough and Salford to bring families together to get active, learn more about their local area and access breastfeeding support.
We run regular social and education events throughout the year including in World Breastfeeding Week annually each August.
We have lots of projects going on within BOOBS in Greater Manchester all of which aim to create a support network for parents, connecting families together and helping them through both hard times and celebrating the good.

As a charity, our essential running costs and all of our projects and services rely heavily on donations. Much of the grant funding we receive has to be used for specific, restricted purposes to be able to deliver our work. With donations, we have more flexibility in deciding how the money will be used.
Any donations received through BOOBS will enable us to reach more women and families, improve and expand our services. If you’ve ever accessed our webchat or 1:1 support services, attended an antenatal session or even just looked at this website and found some useful information, please consider donating. We are joining in with Visit from the Stork’s 10for10 campaign to raise funds. If you wish to make a monthly donation, please get in touch.

"Over the weekend we took the next step and my daughter has fully weaned! I just wanted to say thank you so much for all your help and support, without our chat I don’t think I could have done it."
"I've come to the cafe because your help with my daughter on webchat was so great. I really appreciate your help and wanted to come and meet others and see further what it's all about."
"Kerry has been an absolute lifeline to me as I have started my breastfeeding journey. We first met during an antenatal breastfeeding group in which helpful knowledge was shared to understand breastfeeding and skills demonstrated so we were informed in advance of what was required."
